The E7A: Renault 's Electric Design Innovation Reduces Dependencies and Minimizes Environmental Impact
The E7A employs an integral structure that is 30% smaller than those currently used in the Megane and Scenic E-Tech, which, importantly, are fully electric. This design also eliminates the need for rare earth elements, reducing its environmental impact by 30%. Furthermore, by prioritizing wound rotor technology instead of permanent magnet electric motor technology, not only is efficiency improved but also eliminates the need for imported rare earth elements and magnets, thus simplifying the supply chain.
The E7A motor will significantly speed up battery charging time, increasing system voltage to 800 volts, compared to the conventional 400 volts. Although it will be powerful, its efficiency will be remarkable, thanks in part to the stator supplied by Valeo. This motor will offer an increase of up to 200 kW (approximately 268 hp) in power without consuming additional energy. It also incorporates Hairpin technology in the copper wire assembly, one of Valeo's specialties.
