Suzuki Swift 2024: Renewal and Distinction in the Urban Hybrid Segment
With 2024 just around the corner, we can already see the automotive innovations that will set trends. Among them is a Japanese-made hybrid urban vehicle, which, while not leading the sales charts, has established itself thanks to its design and excellent value for money. This gem receives an update that enhances its appeal.
At the ongoing Japan Mobility Show, Suzuki has unveiled the new 2024 Swift. This vehicle competes with models like the Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, and Renault Clio, but stands out with its unique approach, making it a tempting option for those looking to differentiate themselves in this segment.
From a technical perspective, Suzuki has retained many features from the previously released model, meaning the 2024 Swift will continue to focus on an electrified powertrain lineup. While the current version is available with 1.2 and 1.4-liter mild-hybrid engines with 83 and 129 hp, this new iteration is likely to retain those options while optimizing its performance and efficiency. It's worth noting that Suzuki has moved decisively toward mild-hybrid technology, achieving fuel consumption in vehicles like the Swift between 4 and 5 l/100 km (4 and 5 l/100 km) according to the WLTP cycle.
One detail worth noting is that the 2024 Swift concept showcased introduces a CVT automatic transmission. In Spain, so far, only the Swift Hybrid has been offered with manual transmissions. Therefore, the addition of this automatic option could mark a significant innovation in this update, especially considering the fuel efficiency these transmissions typically offer.
