Toyota Supra GRNM: The next generation of the iconic sports car with a 550-hp BMW M4 CSL engine?

The iconic Toyota Supra could be getting a definitive performance upgrade in the near future.

Unlike the Supra MK4, which became a legend thanks to its extremely reliable and highly customizable engine, the current Supra comes in two engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 258 hp and a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 with 340 hp. While the latter is more appealing and offers the option of a manual transmission, some critics believe it's still inferior to its main rival, the Nissan GT-R.

BMW M4 CSL engine Recently, however, there have been rumors that Toyota will launch the Toyota Supra GRMN powered by the BMW M4 CSL. This update would be much more powerful, with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine producing 550 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The GRMN name comes from Gazoo Racing Meister of Nürburgring, according to Japanese website Best Car.

The A90 Supra is expected to receive a complete overhaul with this update, including improvements to the chassis, suspension, and a possible weight reduction with new interior elements. This would be a long-awaited update for Supra fans, as it would mark a major step forward in the car's evolution. Furthermore, it is expected to be one of the last versions with combustion engines, as the next generation of the Supra could switch to an electric motor.
